Pizza and permaculture at St Patrick's!
Our Year 4 students have had a brilliant day in our Living Classroom with Religious Education Coordinator, Mr Sam Mattas, and our permaculture gardener, designer and teacher, Aaron Sorensen.
There was plenty to do after a weekend of tumultuous weather.
The girls and boys smashed out a number of seasonal and maintenance jobs. They fed soils, planted seeds, cut down and hung huge bunches of bananas, chopped and dropped – and best of all, were treated to delicious pizzas in the wood-fired pizza oven. What a reward after toiling in the summer warmth!
A special thanks to Mrs Meta for donating the ingredients for the pizza toppings and making the sugo. We are all so appreciative.
What the Year 4 students said:
“It is a pleasure to have Aaron come in and teach us all about how to care for our garden” — Stephanie
“It was fun spending time in the garden with my friends and Aaron. It was nice sharing the wood-fired pizzas and freshly cut watermelon” — Isaac
“I enjoyed capturing and studying the insects that live in the garden. I caught two butterflies, a bee, a wasp and other insects. I got to look at them using a big magnifying glass and then put them back in their environment” —Liana
